My Flag for Myself

Occasionally or intentionally I am back to blog today. As mentioned in my welcome blog, I now share one of many past events of mine. But this one is way back from my childhood at the age of 10. I might be in 4th standard.
On a holiday (may be the immediate next Sunday after either Independence Day or Republic Day) I desire to hoist a flag at my home. Seriously.... I was so interested and myself took couple of left over color cloth pieces of my father's Usha Sewing Machinery work and stitched them to form a flag. One of the color shades I remembered was dark. Probably brown or black. Then I found a long casuarina pole stick from my outside kitchen place and tied it tightly to a corner of my inner compound wall. I did use thin jute rope available in my merchant store. Every resource I utilized in this sequence was available at free of cost because,...we run a merchant store, my parents were tailors, they used wood fire for cooking, And ---- ultimately they did not oppose my intention and interest of making my own flag. It was definitely not patriotism but enthusiasm. At the age of 10 I was inspired by unknown factors and made my day myself. I did not invite anybody to that event. I even informed nobody after that day. I just celebrated it myself. Later on I came to get knowledge about rules of flag hoisting.
I observed the flag hoisted at my school being removed after a particular time. I laughed at myself remembering the act I did earlier. But no offense that it was not Indian National Flag I prepared. That was my own flag.
Recollection of this incident usually happens but on this day it is vital and worth sharing.

As I mentioned I did not remember the Day that inspired me to make and hoist a flag. But  they differentiated flag hoisting at Independence Day and Republic Day.

On Independence Day the flag is closed with flowers at bottom, raised to the top and unfurled by the Prime Minister at Red Fort.This indicates we remember the freedom fighters who brought the freedom up from bottom.

On Republic Day the flag is closed and tied at the top and unfurled by the President of India at Rajpath. This gives us clarity that the Freedom is already available which is now available as Indian Constitution.


ముందు నేను చెప్పినట్టే చదువరుల సౌకర్యంతం ద్విభాషా బ్లాగింగ్ చేస్తున్నా. ఇది ఎప్పుడూ కొనసాగుతుంది అని చెప్పలేను. నా సౌకర్యం కూడా చూసుకుని ఇలా చెయ్యటానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తాను. ఇది ఆంగ్ల-తెలుగు మక్కీ కి మక్కీ తర్జుమా ఉండదు. కేవలం భావం మాత్రమే ఏకీభవిస్తుంది అని గమనించగలరు.


అది నేను నా పదో ఏట నాలుగో తరగతి చదువుతున్న రోజుల్లో జరిగిన విషయం. అప్పుడప్పుడు అది గుర్తొస్తున్నా కూడా ఈ రోజే దాని గురించి ఇలా రాయటం ముందే రాసి పెట్టి ఉందేమో.
బహుశా స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్సవమో గణతంత్ర దినోత్సవమో గడిచిన కొద్ది రోజుల తరువాత ఒక సెలవు రోజు అనుకుంటాను. నేను మా ఇంట్లో మా నాన్న గారి ఉషా కుట్టు మిషన్ దగ్గర ఉన్న రెండు వేర్వేరు రంగుల గుడ్డ పీచుల్ని తీసుకుని అదే మిషన్ ని నేనే తొక్కేసి కుట్టిన ఒక వస్తువే జెండా. చెప్పాను కదా, స్కూల్ లో జెండా ఎగరేసిన సన్నివేశానికి ముగ్ధుడనయ్యానో లేక నేనే ఒక జెండా తయారు చేసుకుంటే దాన్ని నేనే ఎగరేయొచ్చు అనే ఆలోచనలో పడ్డానో గుర్తు లేదు గాని మా కిరాణా కొట్లో పొట్లాలు కట్టే సన్న పురి కొసతో ఆ జెండాకి తాడు కట్టి మా కట్టెల పొయ్యి దగ్గర ఉన్న పెద్ద కర్ర తీసుకుని దానికి ఆ జెండా పెట్టి దాన్ని మా ఇంటి వెనక ప్రహరీ గోడ లోపల అమర్చి జెండా ఎగరేసినంత పని చేసాను.

ఏది ఏమైనా నేను నా సొంత జెండా తయారు చేసుకున్న ఆ రోజు ఈ రోజుకీ గుర్తు తెచ్చుకుని ఇక్కడ పంచుకునే అంత మధురం. దానికి కారణం ఆ జెండా తయారు చేయడానికి నాకొచ్చిన నాకే తెలియని ప్రేరణ ఒకింత అయితే దాన్ని ఆచరించడానికి వీలుగా మా అమ్మ నాన్నలు దర్జీలు గా కుట్టు మిషన్ కలిగి ఉండటం, మాకు కిరాణా కొట్టు ఉండటం, అందరిలాగానే మేము కట్టెల పొయ్యి వాడటం, అంతకు మించి నా పైత్యాన్ని మా అమ్మ నాన్న అక్క ఎవరు ఖండించకుండా నా మానాన నన్ను వదిలెయ్యటం.
గొప్ప విషయం ఏమిటి అంటే ఆ రోజు నాకు నేనే సంబరపడ్డాను కానీ అప్పట్లో నాకున్న స్నేహితులకు కూడా ఆ విషయమై ఏమి చెప్పలేదు. నేను దేశభక్తి తో అయితే అలా చేసి ఉండనేమో. తర్వాతి రోజుల్లో జాతీయ జెండా విలువ తెలుసుకున్నాను. జెండా ఎగరేసిన కొంత నిర్దిష్ట సమయానికి దాన్ని తీసివేయ్యటం లాంటివి చూసి నేను చేసిన పనికి నవ్వుకున్నాను. ఇంకా నయం నేను జాతీయ జెండా నమూనాలో నా జెండా రూపొందించి త్రివర్ణ పతాకాన్ని అవమాన పరచలేదు అనుకున్నాను.

కానీ జాతీయ జెండాను ఎగురవేసి రెండు సందర్భాలు అయిన స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్సవం - గణతంత్ర దినోత్సవం లో జెండాను ఎగరేయటంలో కొన్ని వ్యత్యాసాలు మనం చూసి ఉంటాం.

స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్సవం నాడు స్వాతంత్ర్య సమర యోధుల త్యాగాల్ని స్మరించుకుంటూ పూలతో చుట్టి జెండా కర్రకి కింద భాగం లో వేలాడదీసిన జాతీయ జండాను పైకి లాగి దేశ అధినేత అయిన ప్రధానమంత్రి గారు ఎర్రకోట లో ఎగరవేస్తారు.

గణతంత్ర దినోత్సవం నాడు అప్పటికే పొందిన స్వాతంత్ర్యాన్ని లిఖితపూర్వక రాజ్యాంగంగా రాసుకున్న సందర్భాన్ని స్మరించుకుంటూ పూలతో జెండా కర్రకి పైన కట్టిన జెండాను దేశ ప్రధమ పురుషుని హోదాలో రాష్ట్రపతి గారు రాష్ట్రపతి భవన ప్రాంగణంలో ఎగరవేస్తారు.

కొసమెరుపు: స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్సవం నాడు రాష్ట్రపతి జెండా ఎందుకు ఎగరవేయ్యరు అంటే స్వాతంత్ర్య వచ్చిన వెంటనే మనకి రాజ్యాంగం లేదు. అంటే రాష్ట్రపతి గారు కూడా లేరు. అందుకే ఆయనకి స్వాతంత్ర్య దినోత్సవ జెండా వందనానికి కాస్త దూరం అని ఒకాయన రాశారు.
